Food Wheel

The food wheel is a free spinner that decides what to eat for you. Type up to 24 options or fill it with random dishes, press SPIN, and let one fair spin settle it.

Press Spin to let the wheel decide.

Random dishes follow the filters on the Generator tab. Saved wheels stay in this browser.

Some decisions are easier when they aren’t really yours. The food wheel takes a list of dishes, restaurants or cuisines and spins to pick one, so the “what should we eat?” debate ends in a few seconds. Type your own options or let the tool fill the wheel with real dishes, then press SPIN and accept what it lands on.

How to use the food wheel

  1. Build your wheel. Type options into the box beside the wheel, one per line, from 2 up to 24. Press Clear to start from scratch, Fill with random dishes to load eight dishes that follow the filters on the Generator tab, or Use my picks to load dishes you’ve already generated.
  2. Press SPIN. The button sits in the middle of the wheel. It spins, slows down and stops on one slice, and the winner appears beside it.
  3. Act on the result. When the winner matches a dish in our library, you get a dish card with Recipe, Find near me and Share buttons. Want a runner-up? Delete the winner from the list and spin again.

A good food spinner is one you build once and reuse. Two buttons under the options box make that easy:

  • Save wheel keeps your current list in this browser, so it reloads the next time you open the page. It stays on your device and won’t follow you to another phone or computer.
  • Copy wheel link copies a link that opens the same wheel for anyone. Paste it into a group chat and everyone can spin the identical wheel of food on their own screen.

Saved wheels work best for lists that rarely change: your six favorite takeout places, the dinners your family actually eats, or the cafés near the office. If your list is mostly real restaurants, the random restaurant picker adds an Open in Maps button to the winner, and the fast food wheel comes preloaded with popular chains.

Food wheel games for couples, groups and classrooms

Spinning the wheel for food turns a daily chore into a small game:

  • Couples: each person adds two or three options and gets one veto after the spin. Use your veto and the next spin is final. Save the wheel so your date-night shortlist is ready next time.
  • Friends and coworkers: everyone adds one option and the first spin stands. For bigger groups, play elimination: spin, delete the winner, and repeat until one option is left. For the daily office debate, the lunch wheel opens with lunch dishes already loaded.
  • Families: on the Generator tab, set Spice to Not spicy under More filters, then press Fill with random dishes and let the kids remove anything they’re sure they hate before they spin.
  • Classrooms: set the Cuisine filter to one country, fill the wheel, and have students look up where the winning dish comes from. Copy the wheel link so the whole class spins the same options.

Is the food spinner fair?

Yes. The winner is drawn with your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, and every slice has exactly the same chance; the animation only shows the result. That makes this food decider wheel a neutral tie-breaker: when two people want different things, put both on the wheel and let the spin settle it. To give a favorite better odds, list it twice.

Need ideas before you have a list? The Generator tab suggests one real dish at a time, filtered by meal, cuisine, diet and time, just like our random food generator. Generate a few, then press Spin my picks on the wheel to move your shortlist onto the food picker wheel for the final call. Dish details are a guide, so check ingredients whenever allergies are involved.

Frequently asked questions

How does the food wheel spin work?

Type your options into the box beside the wheel, one per line, with at least 2 and up to 24. Each line becomes an equal slice. Press SPIN in the center and the wheel turns, slows down and stops on the winner. If the winner matches a dish in our library, a card appears with Recipe, Find near me and Share buttons.

Can I save my food wheel or share it with friends?

Yes. Save wheel stores your current options in this browser, so the same wheel loads the next time you visit on that device. Copy wheel link copies a link that opens your exact wheel for anyone, which is handy for group chats, couples deciding from two phones, or a teacher sharing one wheel with a class.

Is the food roulette wheel really random?

Yes. The winner is chosen with your browser's cryptographic random number generator before the animation starts, and every slice has exactly the same chance. The spin simply shows that result. Nothing is weighted or sponsored. If you want one option to be more likely, type it on two lines so it gets two slices.

What should I put on a what to eat wheel?

Anything you would happily eat: favorite takeout places, dishes you can make with what's in the kitchen, cuisines, or the leftovers in your fridge. Keep it to options everyone accepts, since the point is to honor the spin. If you have no ideas yet, press Fill with random dishes to load eight real dishes that follow your Generator filters.
